Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Please send a letter to Nassau County legislators and County Executive Bruce Blakeman asking that Nassau Community College full-time faculty be given a fair contract. Also, please consider sharing this letter-writing campaign with your PTA friends, work colleagues, friends in faith, and other civic groups in Nassau County. If you already have, thank you! (If you already sent a letter, the software below will “greet” you by name.)
Nassau Community College faculty have been working without a contract since Sept. 1, 2022. On January 11, 2023, the College informed the NCCFT (full-time faculty union) of its intention to reduce most faculty salaries by up to $5,000 by passing on to them health insurance premium increases. This is while contract negotiations are on-going and without any cost of living increases to cover them. This will impose great financial hardship on a modestly paid faculty during a time of high inflation.
The County is the faculty’s co-employer. Please assist us in getting a fair contract and insist that this harsh and punitive salary cut be reversed.
A great county deserves a great community college, and a great faculty deserve a fair contract.
One Response
Nassau Community College provides an invaluable service to its community members. A fair contract for its instructors is necessary to continue to provide the outstanding educational opportunities afforded students of all ages and backgrounds.
