INVEST in programs and student services to attract and retain students! Fix the deficit and grow the college!
Seventeen years without an increase in funding operations is killing the college!
NO MORE WASTE: Dedicate any increase to hiring full-time faculty to restore cut programs and grow high-demand ones!
When and where:
From 11:00 -11:25 a.m. on Monday, June 10, we gather on the steps of the Theodore Roosevelt Nassau County Executive and Legislative Building, 1550 Franklin Ave, Mineola, NY 11501. This is convenient to LIRR and buses; parking is available on side streets.
At 1:00, we move inside to the Legislative Assembly Hall.
All those belonging to a college union are encouraged to wear their union clothing!
Questions? Please contact communications@nccft.org. We would love to know that you will be there!

I will be there to support NCCFT! I am a member of Say No To The Casino and the Long Island Sierra Club. Both groups have strong interest in seeing that this valued Long Island institution remain as vital as it has been to so many Nassau County residents. The mismanagement of funding is a huge concern to us all.
I’m curious why the college does not observe Juneteenth in the form of a paid holiday. If the k-12 union can include it, if the federal government can include it, if the NYSE and banks etc can include it, why can’t NCC?
I remember reading emails last year about this and the “answer” went something along the lines of the calendars are planned “so far in advance.” Isn’t that how businesses plan their calendars, and k-12 systems, etc? It seems like a flimsy excuse to me.
Someone suggested that it be offered as a floating holiday or to swap it out with other holidays, but that seems unfair to, say, Veterans Day.
What is the origin of this lack of respect, as I see it, and will it ever be rectified in future calendars?
Thank you.
