At their January 11th meeting, the Board of Trustees appointed General Counsel Donna Haugen as Presiding Officer-in-Charge on the departure of President Jermaine Williams. His separation date from the college has not been established, but we estimate it will be some time at the end of January and no later than the end of February.
Ms. Haugen is not an appropriate choice, particularly at this time when the college stands on the brink with enrollments at less than 9,000. She has no academic credentials. It is standard practice for the Provost or the Vice President of Academic Affairs to assume authority when a president resigns. So our first question is, why has the Board of Trustees not appointed our Mark Lausch, our Vice President of Academic Affairs as Presiding Officer-in-Charge?

It is time for a vote of “NO CONFIDENCE” in the Board of Trustees. For the past 10+ years they have thumbed their noses at the integrity of this institution to which many have have devoted our professional lives. This is another “slap in the face” to those who populate this College and is clearly another demonstration of the political games that are being played with our College!
The question posed:
“Why has the Board of Trustees not appointed our Mark Lausch, our Vice President of Academic Affairs as Presiding Officer-in-Charge?”
Must be answered!
Transparency in the Board of Trustees’ decision making is paramount to any system of shared governance and vital to our ability to trust the Trustees.
Without this, they fail, fail, FAIL!!
